Zhangjiakou Yanghe Wetland, paradise for migratory birds

2023-10-24

Yanghe Wetland Park in Zhangjiakou City, Hebei Province, is an ecological treasure and a paradise for migratory birds. It has abundant water resources and vegetation, providing a good living environment for various wildlife. Every spring and autumn, large numbers of migratory birds fly here from afar to stay, breed, and forage.

In the wetland park, you can see flocks of ruddy shelducks freely playing on the water surface. They have reddish-brown bodies, and their bills and feet are orange. They are a kind of winter migratory waterfowl, mainly feeding on aquatic plants and small invertebrates. They like to move in shallow water or marshes and often mix with other waterfowl.

In the wetland park, you can also see great egrets and grey herons flying side by side. They have pure white bodies like snow, and their bills and feet are black, very elegant. Great egrets and grey herons are both medium-sized wading birds, mainly feeding on small fish, shrimp, insects, etc. They like to stand still by the water or in the grass, and quickly extend their long bills to catch prey once they find it.

In the wetland park, there are many species of wild birds, such as greylag geese, white-fronted geese, bean geese, etc. They either hover and fly in the air, or swim leisurely in the water, or walk lightly on the shore, forming a beautiful ecological picture.

Yanghe Wetland Park is a place to showcase the beauty of nature and the wonders of life. Protect this wetland park together and allow more migratory birds to settle here.
