Music Festival
The Balkanopolis from Serbia, recognized as one of the most influential contemporary bands in the country, blends a unique musical style that draws from jazz, orchestral, rock, pop, and local sounds from the Balkan Peninsula. Their performances are rooted in traditional and original Serbian music, utilizing traditional instruments and a grand symphony-like repertoire structure. This combination consistently delivers epic, stunning performances that captivate audiences.
Lead singer Slobodan Trkulja, renowned Serbian singer, music composer, and multi-instrumentalist, gained significant attention among Chinese audiences for his performance at the 2023 CCTV Spring Festival Gala in the Year of the Rabbit. Accompanied by the famous Chinese pianist Lang Lang and violinist Lu Siqing, Slobodan’s rendition of the Serbian folk song Tamo daleko resonated with hundreds of millions of domestic viewers.
A-play, a band hailing from Beijing's local music scene, serves as a model for the Chinese Folk Music Revival Plan. They have pioneered a fantastic fusion of modern and traditional classic instrumental music, creating a remarkable chivalric music style. A-play is among the most brilliant of an aspiring young generation of the Chinese modern instrumental music pioneers, combining a charming temperament with technical proficiency. As a rising band, they have gained industry acclaim and a large following, earning awards and nominations both domestically and internationally, and have been invited to perform at prestigious events such as "Silk Road Melody" and "Flowers Blooming in the World".
Tsvetnitsa, a folk ensemble troupe from Bulgaria, was created by a group of young people from Sofia back in 50 years ago. The troupe has represented their country on numerous occasions, showcasing and promoting the charm of Bulgaria's intangible cultural heritage through their performances. Folk Ensembles from Central and Eastern European countries are the most unique and symbolic forms of artistic expression, often standing out and impressing audiences on the international stage. Bulgarian folk music, in particular, features an asymmetrical rhythm, revolving around various combinations of 'fast' and 'slow' beats. This not only enhances the difficulty of the dance but also makes their performances livelier and more interesting. At their performances, Tsvetnitsa will also present a series of traditional attire, creating a visually stunning event that celebrates the rich tapestry of international culture.
The venue will also feature performances from the world-renowned Romanian world music band Dacus Lupus, bringing with them the ancient Transylvanian highland acoustics. The Wild Strings Trio from Slovenia and Slovakia will celebrate the purest jazz trio, while the PEIROS folk ensemble from Greece will represent the West Greece region and bring unique local folklore dances. Croatian singer Tea & The Band are in Beijing to astound. The Romanian band R3D, Bosnian musician Mario Zovko are also here to introduce the charm of pop music and electronic dance moves. Teachers and students from the Beijing Opera and Arts College will also bring performances of traditional dances from various regions.
The cultural performances of China and Central and Eastern Europe are a symphony of artistry, where the leaps are not just in music notes and dance steps, but also in the thrill of your heartbeat!
