October 16th is World Food Day, an international holiday established by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations in 1981 to raise awareness of global food security and hunger issues.

In Beijing's Beiwu Park, it happens to be the harvest season of Jingxi rice. When Jingxi rice matures, the golden rice ears in the paddy fields shine under the sunlight, creating a splendid golden beauty.

Since the Qing Dynasty, Jingxi rice has been a tribute rice for the imperial court, and ordinary people did not have the privilege to enjoy it. It was not until the 1980s that it began to enter ordinary households. Jingxi rice has plump and large grains, smooth and transparent, and when steamed, the rice is of moderate softness, with a fragrant aroma. As a famous and superior specialty, it has always been the pride of Beijing people.

The bountiful harvest of Jingxi rice is not only a beautiful scenery in Beiwu Park but also a celebration and call for World Food Day.
