National Botanical Garden's chrysanthemum sea embrace autumn

The second Chrysanthemum Exhibition at the China National Botanical Garden has recently kicked off, bringing together nearly 300 varieties of chrysanthemum and hundreds of other flowers. Adorned with over 100,000 fresh flowers, the garden has been transformed into a floral paradise, offering a splendid autumn feast for citizens and travelers.

The main exhibition area of this chrysanthemum event is located in the northern part of the National Botanical Garden. In an exhibition space spanning nearly 8,000 square meters beside the Science Gallery, tens of thousands of small chrysanthemums of various colors have been arranged to create vibrant bands and patterns, forming a sea of flowers.

The Bonsai Garden at the National Botanical Garden's northern area is the premium chrysanthemum exhibition zone for this event. Located in the northwest part of the Bonsai Garden, it showcases 200 varieties of 1,800 potted traditional Chinese single-stem chrysanthemums. These single-stem chrysanthemums are widely known for their unique beauty, large and colorful blossoms, and diverse flower shapes, resembling embroidery balls or silk ribbons. Besides chrysanthemums, there is a display of fine bonsai trees collected over the years. Over 20 tree species, including Chinese junipers, dragon spruces, Chinese fringe trees, and ginkgos, with a total of 118 potted works, present an robust and majestic artistic style which is characterized by northern Chinese bonsai.

Across from the Bonsai Garden, the Tropical Exhibition Greenhouse in the northern area of the National Botanical Garden presents a exhibition of fine succulent plants during the Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day. The National Botanical Garden boasts a rich collection of plant species, with over 17,000 species. This time, more than 40 different types of succulent plants, including stem succulents and other varieties, are the primary focus. The exhibition also combines physical plants with informative display boards to provide knowledge about the classification, growth habits, and caring speciality of succulent plants.

In addition to the succulent plant, the Science Gallery hosts several other educational exhibitions and activities. The main hall of showcases the exhibition 'Plants and Human Life', which explores the inseparable relationship between humans and plants through the lens of human clothing, food, housing, and transportation. On the first floor of the Science Gallery, the 'One Fruit, One World; One Seed, One Bodhi' Bohdi plant exhibition is held. Through text, images, and actual plant exhibits, it educates visitors that 'Bodhi seeds' do not specifically refer to the seeds of the Bodhi tree. Additionally, the Science Museum features a nature notebook exhibit, plant science videos, and the 'Everything Coexists' popular science lecture series. All of these exhibitions and activities are set to enlighten visitors with fascinating stories about plants during the holiday.
