The 22nd 'Autumn Charm in the Summer Palace' Osmanthus Culture Exhibition officially opened recently.
59 centenary osmanthus trees and over a hundred young potted osmanthus plants have been strategically timed for gradual blossoming before the holidays by horticulturists. They are now reaching their prime viewing period.

Osmanthus trees are characterized by blooming twice. According to this feature, horticulturists at the Summer Palace cleverly tailored their care to each osmanthus plant to prepare for this year's 'extra-long holiday'. As a result, the osmanthus trees have been gradually blooming since being displayed at the Summer Palace. After a week of preparation and maintenance, the first batch of osmanthus reached their second blooming period just in time for the National Day holiday. This ensures that visitors can experience continuous enjoyment of the osmanthus in full bloom, with its fragrant scent lingering throughout the garden for 2 to 3 weeks.

The 'Autumn Charm in the Summer Palace' Osmanthus Culture Exhibition is the largest and highest-grade potted osmanthus exhibition in northern China. This year's exhibition showcases 59 centenary potted osmanthus trees from the Summer Palace's collection, plus over a hundred younger potted osmanthus trees cultivated by the Summer Palace's horticulturists. 220 potted osmanthus trees, some over which are higher than a person, are delicately displayed in the Hall of Benevolence and Longevity, the Tower of Buddhist Incense, the East Palace Gate, and other main areas, creating a rich and fragrant atmosphere.
'The Summer Palace has redesigned and expanded two themed flower beds, enhancing the travel experience for visitors with unique features such as special flower pots and lagerstroemia indica bonsai. Regardless of the entrance gate, the festive atmosphere of the Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day is filling everywhere, providing visitors with fresh and splendid views at each step.
This year's 'Autumn Charm in the Summer Palace' Osmanthus Culture Exhibition will last until October 23rd. The osmanthus has gradually blossomed, with the second peak bloom period expected to coincide with the Mid-Autumn Festival and the National Day holiday. The best times for enjoying the fragrant osmanthus are early mornings and evenings.
