Beijing Investment Company’s website has released the second public notice for the ‘Beijing Rail Transit Line 1 Branch Line Project’. The Environmental Impact Statement (Draft for Comments) reveals that the Line 1 Branch Line consists of 10 stations, including 9 new stations and 1 renovated station, with construction planned to begin by the end of 2023. In the future, the Line 1 Branch Line will not only connect with the existing Line 1, but also provide transfers to Line 11 Phase II, Line 14, and the Suburban Railway City Center Line.
The Line 1 Branch Line will primarily follow routes along Shijingshan Road, South Stadium Street, Jingyang West Street, Changshun 1st Road, Garden Expo South Road, Meishikou Road (planned), Yungang Road, Wangzuo Road, Weigezhuang Road, and Liangsan Road, with a total length of approximately 21 kilometers. The entire line will be constructed underground and feature 10 stations, including 9 new ones and 1 renovated one. A new parking lot is planned for the Wangzuo area, east of the Sixth Ring Road and north of the extended Yungang Road, covering an area of about 9.8 hectares.

Based on the current project schematic diagram, the 10 stations of the Line 1 Branch Line, from east to west, include: Bajiao Amusement Park Station, South Stadium Street Station, Garden Expo West Gate Station, Zhangguozhuang Station, West Second District Station, Houlvcun Station, Yungang Station, Wangzuo Station, Minzu University Station, and Qinglong Lake East Station (station names are provisional and subject to subsequent approvals).

This line will not only connect with the existing Line 1 but also feature 3 transfer stations at South Stadium Street Station, Zhangguozhuang Station, and Houlvcun Station, allowing transfers to Rail Transit Line 11 Phase II, Line 14, and the Suburban Railway City Center Line respectively. The line intends to fill in the rail transit service gap in the Fengtai West area, enhancing the quality of transportation in southwest Beijing, and making full use of rail transit to lead urban spatial layout, promoting high-quality development in the central part of Shijingshan District and the Fengtai West area.
The Line 1 Branch Line is designed for a maximum operating speed of 80 kilometers per hour, with B-type trains in 6-car sets. According to the Environmental Impact Statement (Draft for Comments), the project is planned to begain construction by the end of 2023, with commencement of operation expected by the end of June, 2027.
