Recently, Tongzhou District announced the first batch of a district-level wetland list,125 wetlands including Grand Canal Forest Park wetland, Jinfu Wetland Park, and Zhangjiawan Park Wetland were selected, with an area of 727.56 hectares. The compilation of this list clarifies the protection responsible subject of each wetland, which helps to improve the management system of wetland grading and classification, effectively strengthen the protection and restoration of wetlands, and maintain the ecological function and biodiversity of wetlands.

The first 125 district-level wetlands in Tongzhou District cover a wide range of areas, including the Grand Canal Forest Park wetlands, Songzhuang Cultural Park, Taihu Park wetlands, and other types of parks and wetlands, as well as the Fenggangjian River Branch II, Fenghe River, Tonghui South Trunk, and other dry ditches and canals, and all of them have a clear wetland protection main responsible unit. Among them, Zhangjiawan Township and Yujiawu Hui Township have the most, each with 19; Yongledian Township and Xijizhen Township have 18 each.

Some of the wetland lists announced in the first batch have become good places for citizens to get close to nature. For example, the Grand Canal Forest Park has constructed large wetlands along both sides of the canal channel, planting dozens of aquatic plants, including reeds, irises, lotus, etc. Visitors can walk, ride, and relax, or take a boat ride along the embankment roads on both sides of the river to enjoy the scenery on both sides of the river. It is also a paradise for birds. At present, the wild birds recorded in the park and the water system of the North Canal have reached about 200 species, and birds such as herons and egrets frequently visit the park, showing a beautiful picture of harmonious coexistence between humans and nature.

Jinfu Wetland Park located in Taihu town is even more versatile in functions. During this Mid-Autumn and National Day holidays, the Taihu Performing Arts Workshop in the park staged performances such as a lawn mini-music show, the Beijing Shadow Puppetry Art Week Taihu Special Show, the drama "The Teahouse", and other special Beijing-style performances of Chinese folk-art forms, which provided a diversified cultural experience for the public.
