The Beijing French Cultural Center is a cultural institution established through a government agreement signed between the People's Republic of China and the French Republic on November 29, 2002. Its mission is to promote the dissemination of French culture in China and foster cross-cultural dialogue.

Throughout the year, the Beijing French Cultural Center organizes a wide range of cultural events spanning various fields such as knowledge, art, audiovisual, society and environment, language, and more. Through these activities, it aims to promote the dissemination of French culture and the cultures of French-speaking regions in China.

The second and third floors of the center house the French Alliance, which is dedicated to teaching and promoting the French language, and also there is the office of the French Higher Education Agency, where services are provided for students who are going to France for further study.

Multimedia Library

The Multimedia Library has a collection of over 27,000 items, including novels, comics, literary works, French language learning materials, reference books, practical guides, travel guides, children's books, DVDs, magazines, and more in both Chinese and French languages. The library regularly organizes various events such as storytelling sessions, workshops, and other activities.

Traveler's Tree: the reading club

Traveler's Tree Reading Club members can purchase a variety of French books and selected Chinese translations of French works either at the bookstore or through online ordering. Traveler's Tree offers a collection of over ten thousand books, including the latest French literary works. The library also features a wide range of French literature, poetry, humanities, Chinese translations of French literature, and a diverse selection of children's books.

Cinema

The multipurpose hall transforms into a movie theater every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Past and contemporary films of various genres, including comedy, thriller, animation, and documentaries, are screened here, which showcases the charm of the seventh art across different time periods.

The Beijing French Cultural Center regularly organizes special screenings, inviting directors or actors to attend, providing the audience with a deeper appreciation of the magic of cinema.

Exhibition

The center hosts art exhibitions throughout the year, featuring works by French or foreign artists in various art forms such as visual arts, photography, illustration, and more.

Black Box Performance Space

The transformed Beijing French Cultural Center has also created a brand-new multipurpose space called the Black Box Performance Space. This space is designed for performances including dance, concerts, and drama. It can also be transformed into an immersive exhibition space.
