Taking the subway to visit the famous universities

Beijing Subway Line 4 starts in the south of Beijing, departing from Beijing South Railway Station and heading north through Fengtai District, Shijingshan District, Haidian District, and Chaoyang District, ultimately reaching the north of Beijing. Beijing Jiaotong University

Subway Station: Xizhimen Station

Beijing Jiaotong University, one of the three sources of Jiaotong University, can trace its history back to 1896 when it was founded as a railway management training institute by the Qing government. It was the first higher education institution in China to specialize in training management personnel and was the birthplace of modern Chinese railway management and telecommunications education.

Visit by appointment: To ensure the normal operation of technology companies, research institutes, and higher education institutions and maintain normal teaching order, individual visitors are not currently accepted. Minzu University of China

Subway Station: National Library Station

Minzu University of China was founded in 1941 as the Yan'an Nationalities Institute. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, it was approved by the central government and established as the Central Institute of Nationalities in Beijing in 1951. In November 1993, it was renamed Minzu University of China.

Museum of Ethnic Cultures, Minzu University of China is a professional museum of ethnology that mainly collects, displays, and researches cultural relics of the 56 ethnic groups in China. The museum has nearly 50,000 cultural relics in 14 categories, including production tools, daily necessities, religious artifacts, clothing, ancient artifacts, and musical instruments.

Visit by appointment: Currently, Museum of Ethnic Cultures, Minzu University is temporarily closed. Please pay attention to the official website and WeChat official account of Minzu University of China for information on when it will reopen.

Beijing Foreign Studies University

Subway Station: Weigongcun Station

Beijing Foreign Studies University was the first foreign language university founded by the Communist Party of China. Its predecessor was the Russian team of the Counter-Japanese Military and Political University's Third Branch School, which was established in Yan'an in 1941. Later, it developed into the Foreign Language School of the Central Military Commission and was initially under the leadership of the Party Central Committee. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, the school was under the leadership of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. It was renamed Beijing Foreign Language Institute in 1954 and merged with Beijing Russian Language Institute in 1959 to form the new Beijing Foreign Studies University. After 1980, it was directly under the leadership of the Ministry of Education and was officially renamed Beijing Foreign Studies University in 1994.

Visit by appointment: Beijing Foreign Studies University is open to the public and can be visited at any time. However, the library requires a campus card to enter.

Beijing Institute of Technology

Subway Station: Weigongcun Station

The predecessor of Beijing Institute of Technology was the Academy of Natural Sciences, which was founded in Yan'an in 1940. It was the first specialized institution in the history of the Communist Party of China to carry out natural science teaching and research. Mao Zedong wrote the name of the school, and proletarian revolutionaries such as Li Fuchun, Xu Teli, and Li Qiang, who were experts in radio and economics, successively served as the school's main leaders. In 1949, the school moved to Beijing; in 1952, it was named Beijing Institute of Technology and became the first national defense industry college in New China; in 1988, it was renamed Beijing Institute of Technology. It is the first science and engineering university founded by the Communist Party of China and a key university constructed by the state since the founding of New China.

Renmin University of China

Subway Station: Renmin University Station

Renmin University of China is the first new-type regular university founded by the Communist Party of China. Its predecessor was the Shaanbei Public School, which was born in the flames of the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression in 1937, as well as later universities such as North China United University, Beifang University, and North China University.

Museum of Renmin University of China is a comprehensive museum that integrates collection, exhibition, research, and education with historical relics, art works, and school history. The museum has a collection of nearly 90,000 cultural relics, and the exhibition hall covers an area of more than 5,000 square meters, consisting of three parts: the school history exhibition, the collection theme exhibition, and the temporary exhibition. The school history exhibition reflects the history of Renmin University of China from its predecessor, Shaanbei Public School, in 1937 to the present.

Visit by appointment: Individuals can directly enter the Museum of Renmin University of China during opening hours on working days without reservation.

University of Chinese Academy of Sciences

Subway Station: Zhongguancun Station

The University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, also known as "UCAS", is an innovative university that integrates science and education as its mode of operation, with graduate education as its main body, and elite undergraduate education as its characteristic.

Visit by appointment: You can make a reservation through the WeChat official account of the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, there is "QR code for off-campus personnel to apply for entry into the campus."

Peking University

Subway Station: Peking Univ. East Gate Station

Peking University was founded in 1898. It was a product of the The Hundred Days' Reform or Wuxu Reform in 1898 and also the result of the Chinese nation's efforts to save itself and strengthen education. Its original name was the Imperial University of Peking, and it was the first national comprehensive university in modern China. After the 1911 Revolution, it was renamed Peking University in 1912.

As the center of the New Culture Movement and the birthplace of the May Fourth Movement, as well as the earliest disseminator of Marxist and democratic scientific thought in China, and as the initial important activity base of the Communist Party of China, Peking University has made outstanding contributions to the national rejuvenation and liberation, the construction and development of the country, and the civilization and progress of society, playing an important pioneering role in China's modernization process. Tsinghua University

Subway station: Yuanmingyuan Station

The predecessor of Tsinghua University, Tsing Hua Imperial College, was founded in 1911 and was renamed Tsinghua School in 1912. In 1928, it was renamed National Tsinghua University. After the outbreak of the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression in 1937, it moved south to Changsha and formed the National Changsha Temporary University with Peking University and Nankai University. In 1938, it moved to Kunming and was renamed National Southwest Associated University. In 1946, it moved back to Tsinghua Garden and had 5 colleges and 26 departments, including literature, law, science, engineering, and agriculture.
