72 People Beneficial Cultural activities are waiting for visitors

As a supporting event of the 2023 Beijing Cultural Forum, the 11th Beijing People Beneficial Cultural Consumption Season takes place from September 13th to 15th. It will host 72 activities in six major fields, including performing arts, cultural creativity, literary, gaming and entertainment, recreational sports, and art. These activities aim to offer discounts, gifts with purchases, coupons, and rewards for check-ins to both citizens and tourists, promoting cultural consumption.

Roughly 200 brands will debut in the Cultural Carnival

The upcoming Beijing Splendid Cultural Consumer Carnival, scheduled for September 15th to 17th at Longfu Temple, is a highlight of the Consumer Season. Nearly 200 cultural brands will come to the carnival, combining cultural and creative sales, handmade experiences, intangible cultural heritage interactions, anime and gaming, trendy sports, and live streaming shopping. Over ten small-scale performances will also be held. From that on, Beijing's traditional Hutongs will filled up with concerts and amusement parks, allowing customers to foster friendships through music and games.

They cleverly integrate diverse activities, creating a cultural consumption atmosphere. Citizens and tourists can participate in activities like riding along the central axis route, theater experiences, Shougang Sports Gathering, and museum encounters at venues representing Beijing's cultural characteristics such as the Imperial Ancestral Temple, Beijing Bridge Performing Arts Area, Shougang Park, and the 798 Art Zone, allowing them to experience and appreciate the achievements of Beijing's cultural industry development.

Multiple Benefits to Enhance People's Well-being

Beijing People Beneficial Cultural Consumption Season has been held continuously for eleven sessions, and the number of consumers reached 980 million with a spending of over 110 billion yuan. By then, 4.8 billion yuan of beneficial consumption had been achieved. The 2023 Beijing People Beneficial Cultural Consumption Season fully taps into its platform role, hosting 209 activities in six categories from July to October. Up to now, approximately 99,000 cultural consumption activities have been completed, with approximately 3.87 million offline participants, about 16.65 million online clicks, roughly 2.38 million consumers, and around 2.3 billion yuan in consumption amount.

In 2023, Beijing People Beneficial Cultural Consumption Season is collaborating with the 2023 Beijing Cultural Consumption Promotion Campaign and actively take good use of the 45 million yuan from government financial assistance to benefit people. Market entities have been encouraged to contribute to cultural benefits to the people. Through discounts,full reductions, buy-one-get-one-free offers, and other benefits, approximately 130 million yuan in beneficial amounts have been achieved so far. It is expected that by the end of the consumer season, it will reach no less than 200 million yuan, driving cultural consumption of no less than 10 billion yuan. 

Hit the cultural venues fora treasure hunt

Ditan Park Book Store and Time Concert in the Bell and Drum Tower…As a series of events unfold, the Beijing People Beneficial Cultural Consumption Season will usher in a cultural consumption climax in the golden autumn. From now on, renowned commercial districts like Huaxi LIVE and Beijing Solana will hold gaming and entertainment consumption events. Guardian Art Center and Beijing Poly International Auction Co., Ltd. will launch the Autumn Art and Cultural Relics Auction Month.

Notably, the Consumer Season has also collaborated with the urban exploration and operation service platform City Pass to initiate the Mishang Beijing (fall in love with Beijing) themed series of activities. Through diverse interactive forms, it connects over a hundred high-quality merchants to create a city-wide treasure hunt filled with fascinating Beijing style. Citizens who check in at these cultural venues have the chance to win the Koi Grand Prize—a grand prize of cultural consumption for the entire year 2023.

The immersive experience of the ancient cultural and new wave in Time Concert

Last Saturday, the 11th the Beijing People Beneficial Cultural Consumption Season's cultural event "Time Concert" took place at the Drum Tower. It presents a day-long immersive cultural feast through the concert, combined thematic introductions, cultural and creative markets, and traditional Chinese-style park activities. Diving into the link between ancient and modern times, citizens can get close to a blend of Beijing's traditional charm and new wave.

Time Concert took advantage of the time sense associated with the Drum and Bell Towers, embarking on a musical journey spanning from ancient to modern times. Within  6 hours, it featured 9 performances across 7 major thematic categories, including Kunqu opera, traditional Chinese music, piano, guitar, and vocal ensembles. Renowned opera artists, music celebrities, art groups, traditional Chinese music artists, and young musicians all made appearances, jointly presenting an autumn music extravaganza.

Ming Dynasty Wall Relics Park 

One hundred photos record world heritage sites of countries along the "Belt and Road"

The "Belt and Road" World Cultural and Natural Heritage Photography Exhibition opened at the Ming Dynasty Wall Relics Park, showcasing 100 photographic works that lead the audience to engage in cultural exchanges and mutual learning. The exhibition will last until October 7th.

Walking into the exhibition hall of the Ming Dynasty Wall Relics Park, the 100 photographic works on the wall are like 100 windows facing the world, displaying the history, culture, and natural landscapes of countries along the "Belt and Road". The audience can start from the Palace Museum in China and the Grand Canal, cross mountains and seas, and arrive at the Seine River in Paris, France, and then to the ancient Roman aqueducts in Segovia, Spain, and the Royal Palace in Madrid.

The 2023 Beijing Cultural Forum will be held from September 14th to 15th. As the host of the Beijing Cultural Forum and the core carrier of the national cultural center, Dongcheng District has launched a cultural month event. This photography exhibition is one of the activities in the 2023 Dongcheng Cultural Month series.

October Youth Literature Creation and Sharing Conference enters the community

As one of the public activities of the 8th Beijing October Literature Month, the "Classic Reading Enters the Community - October Youth Literature Creation and Sharing Conference Enters Yuzhong East Community" was held the day before yesterday. The event attracted more than 100 children and parents who love literature from the Yuzhong East Community in Desheng Street, Xicheng District to participate.

The highlight of the event was the literary lecture given by famous children's literature writer Zhou Jing to the children. With her newly published medium-length fairy tale "Legend of the Duck Egg Mountain" as the basis, Zhou Jing gave a creative sharing session entitled "The Fiction and Reality of Legends", bringing a literary atmosphere to the event.

Shao Xin, the champion of the first season of Shandong TV's "Super Chinese Language Class", then explained his understanding of reading. Starting from "Legend of the Duck Egg Mountain", he emphasized the importance of maintaining curiosity and actively thinking while reading. He also shared some methods for reading classic works, using "Journey to the West" as an example, which won the applause of the children with his easy-to-understand sharing.

Zhao Tong, Deputy General Manager and Chief Editor of Beijing Publishing Group, stated that the 8th Beijing October Literature Month has the theme of "Literature Nourishes the Soul, Reading Enriches Life". The "Classic Reading into the Community" event is in line with the theme of Literature Month. "Promoting reading among the public, nourishing the city with literature, entering the community, and nurturing the soul is the original intention and mission of publishers," said Zhao Tong. The event is jointly organized by the October Branch of Beijing Publishing Group and the Yuzhongdongli Community in Xicheng District, aiming to encourage community residents to read more books, good books, and classics through a variety of colorful activities, and to create a literary atmosphere in the community.
