Tourism and leisure districts serve as important windows to showcase urban culture and image, effective measures to create public living and leisure spaces in the city, crucial engines to stimulate domestic demand and consumption, and vital focal points for boosting urban employment and improving people's livelihoods. A panel of experts and professors from institutions such as the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing Jiaotong University, Capital University of Economics and Business, and Beijing Union University formed an evaluation expert group to assess 15 submitted districts. In the end, 12 districts were selected.
It is understood that in 2021, Beijing evaluated the first batch of 12 tourism and leisure districts in the city. Among them, Qianmen Street, Sanlitun Taikooli, Huaxi LIVE Wukesong, and 751 Zone were recognized by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism as national-level tourism and leisure districts.
