Beijing Badaling Safari World is the largest mountain wildlife park in China. It is located at the foot of the world-famous Badaling Great Wall, adjacent to the Badaling Expressway, and only 40 minutes by car from the city center, with convenient transportation. The park includes five functional areas: wildlife tour area, mountain sightseeing area, ecological protection area, ancient culture area, and leisure area.
The park covers an area of nearly 6,000 mu (a Chinese unit of area, equals to 1/15 of a hectare or 1/6 an acre) and has more than 100 species of nearly 10,000 wild animals. It is an ecological tourism park that integrates animal viewing, rescue and breeding, leisure vacation, popular science education, and public welfare and environmental protection. Along the winding tour route, you can see representative animals from all over the world, blending into the ocean of mountains and forests.
Here, there is China's largest population of African lions and a population of white tigers from the Americas; there are siberian tiger groups; brown bears; sun bears; national treasures such as pandas, snub-nosed monkeys, crested ibises, greater kudus, clouded leopard, wild wolf families, macaque groups, African giraffes, wildebeests, gemsbok, bontebok, kangaroos, and various precious pheasants, blue and white peacocks, black swans, red-crowned cranes, and macaws.
In the park, you can feed the fierce beasts and get close to gentle animals. When you come to "Ark Square", you can not only take a break and enjoy the beautiful mountains and forests, but also watch the unique "Peacock Flying to the Southeast", allowing you to fully enjoy the beauty of nature. In the "Wilderness World", you can learn about the process of wild animals becoming domesticated and experience the meaning of urvival of the fittest". The winding and ancient Great Wall surrounds the park, and the ancient kiln site for firing Great Wall bricks and the entrance where Li Zicheng entered the pass can make you feel the vicissitudes of history. Even more mysterious is the legend of the "Buddha Rock Temple", which has been sitting with the stone Buddha of Shakyamuni for nearly a thousand years.
The leisure area is set up in various locations in the park according to different leisure methods. The commercial street located in the park entrance area is available for visitors to shop and dine. The Ark Square, located in the southwest of the park, is a place for tourists to rest and sunbathe. The planned resort is located in the northwest of the park, where visitors can stay for a few days away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
