Heilong Pond Natural Scenic Area is located in a canyon in Miyun District, Beijing, with a total length of about 4 kilometers and a water level drop of about 220 meters. It is a natural scenic area mainly featuring the canyon and pond water scenery. The vegetation coverage rate in the scenic area is 85%, including a forest coverage rate of 45%. The main tree species include Mongolian oak, poplar, white birch, purple beech, and walnut.
The topography of Heilong Pond Scenic Area is characterized by granite low mountains formed during the late Yanshan Movement, approximately 123 million years ago. The peaks on both sides of the valley are mostly between 300 and 500 meters above sea level, while the valley floor ranges from 150 to over 370 meters. The valley features 3 major waterfalls and 18 ponds, each with its own unique characteristics.
