Full-day red rainstorm warning maintains

2023-07-30

According to the latest forecast from the meteorological station, due to the interaction between tropical depression weakened by the typhoon and the warm and humid airflow from the periphery of the subtropical high pressure, heavy rain to torrential rain is expected in Beijing on the 30th, with locally severe rainstorms and accompanied by 3-4 level easterly winds, gusts of 6-7 levels. Most areas of the city will receive rainfall of 120-150 millimeters, while some areas in the west and south will receive 200-300 millimeters, with a maximum rainfall intensity of 50-80 millimeters per hour. Due to the rainfall, the maximum temperature during the day will be around 25℃.

The red rainstorm warning signal will be maintained from daytime to nighttime today, and Beijing will continue to implement a red (level one) emergency response for flood warning. The Beijing Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters Office reminds the general public not to go out unless necessary. For enterprises and institutions, except for ensuring urban operations and livelihood services, employees are not required to go to work if not necessary.

From 9am on July 29th to 6am on July 30th, the average rainfall in Beijing was 22.8 millimeters. There is a high risk of secondary disasters such as mountain floods, landslides, collapses, and mudslides in mountainous and hilly areas. Do not go to mountainous areas, river channels, or areas with geological hazards, and do not drive through water. During thunderstorms and strong winds, do not stay under tall buildings, billboards, temporary structures, or trees.
