Chen Jie, Deputy Director General of Beijing Municipal Bureau of Sports, recently announced that Beijing will put an emphasis on international sports events for developing the city into an international exchange hub.

A total of 39 international sports events at various levels are scheduled to be launched in Beijing this year, including five China-based brand events such as the "China Open" tennis tournament, Beijing Marathon, and FIS (International Ski and Snowboard Federation) Snowboard and Freestyle Skiing Big Air World Cup, and four international ice and snow-themed events such as the Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final of ISU (International Skating Union) and IBSF (International Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation) Bobsleigh and Skeleton World Cup, as well as two commercial international sports events, namely an invitational tournament between the national soccer teams of Argentina and Australia, and Desafío China by La Vuelta (a cycling competition).

In addition, 28 public international sports events will be launched in 2023, including Beijing International Kite Festival, Beijing International Mountain Walking Festival, and Beijing International Sailing Regatta.
