On June 17th, the Dragon Boat Festival Folk Experience Event "Sharing Intangible Cultural Heritage through the Love of Zongzi" was successfully held in Niantan Park, sponsored by the Propaganda Department of Daxing District. Nearly 600 citizens participated in the event.
The enthusiastic waist drum dance "China Beauty" opened the Dragon Boat Festival Folk Activities. In the "Taste of Dragon Boat" intangible cultural heritage experience area, folk artisans set up booths to "pass on their skills", including hand-painted facial makeup, colorful rope braiding, fun pitching games and fishing for blessings during the Dragon Boat Festival. This allowed everyone to not only experience the joy of traditional folk handicrafts but also enhanced their sense of cultural identity and love for Chinese traditional culture, strengthening their confidence in national culture.
Hand-painted facial makeup inherits traditional culture
Peking Opera is China's traditional art form and also a cultural treasure of our country. As the Dragon Boat Festival approached, residents in the jurisdiction were able to experience the charm of "intangible cultural heritage" up close and feel the profoundness of Chinese traditional culture.
In the facial makeup painting area, the inheritor of intangible cultural heritage prepared tools such as masks, brushes, and pigments, and focused on showing everyone the performance props of Peking opera facial makeup. While drawing the masks, the inheritor explained the representative characters of different types of facial makeup: "Different colored facial makeup represent different personalities. For example, the red-faced 'Guan Yu' represents loyalty and righteousness, the white-faced 'Cao Cao' represents cunning and suspicion, and the black-faced 'Bao Zheng' represents a serious personality."

Colorful ropes fly, binding emotions
Wearing colorful wrist ropes during the Dragon Boat Festival is a custom passed down from ancient times. Each colorful rope represents different meanings, and weaving these ropes together into a delicate knot symbolizes peace, good luck, and the holiday's blessings.

At the rope braiding area, traditional rope knotting teachers were invited to teach everyone how to braid colorful ropes based on the customs of the Dragon Boat Festival. In ancient China, the people respected five colors, namely white, red, black, yellow, and blue. The five colors of silk threads were arranged in order on the tabletop. The rope knotting teacher skillfully weaved, tied, and arranged a strand of thread, and in no time, a beautiful Dragon Boat Festival colorful knot was completed.
