Guangyuyuan Museum of Chinese Medicine History and Culture
Founded in 1541, Guangyuyuan has a history of over 400 years and was once known as one of the "Four Great Pharmacies" in the Qing Dynasty, along with Chen Li Ji in Guangzhou, Tong Ren Tang in Beijing and Hu Qing Yu Tang in Hangzhou.
Today, Guangyuyuan has formed a trinity of "National Medicine Hall + National Medical Hall + Museum", which combines fine Chinese medicine, Chinese medicine culture and Chinese medical treatment into one. Visitors can experience the traditional Chinese medicine culture and learn the wisdom of the ancestors.
The Museum of Chinese Medicine History and Culture is located on the third floor of Guangyuyuan and covers an area of approximately 1,000 square meters, with more than 600 exhibits in seven categories, covering a wide range of collections including objects, instruments, ancient books and specimens. Here, you can learn about the origins and history of Chinese medicine and increase your knowledge of Chinese medicine by observing Chinese medical instruments and specimens and studying ancient legacy notes.
Activities such as identifying herbs, learning to use an arbiter and mortar and pestle, and making incense pouches and hawthorn pills are held from time to time, so visitors can experience the national essence of Chinese medicine up close and in depth.
