On May 26, the first Beijing Cherry Culture Festival and the 23rd Haidian District Cherry Culture Festival were launched. More than a hundred cherry orchards in Haidian District are open for visitors. Three "fun, delicious, good-looking" cherry picking tourism routes were also officially released. The existing cherry cultivation area in Haidian District is nearly 8,000 mu, basically distributed in Sujiatuo Town, Hot Spring Town and Sijiqing Town. Hundreds of cherry varieties are planted, such as Yan Yang, Rabins and Samito. As one of the main cherry producing areas in Beijing, its total output is expected to reach 1.4 million pounds this year.
In this year's Cherry Culture Festival, Haidian District has integrated "cherry +", "tourism +", "technology +", "ecology + " to launch three "fun, delicious, good-looking" cherry picking tourism routes. They are, respectively, the Sijiqing Town Craftsmanship Culture Agro-tourism Route, Hot Springs Town Red Culture Agro-tourism Route and Sujiatuo Town West Mountain Culture Agro-tourism Route. These three routes not only contain many special cherry picking orchards, but also connect many landscape and humanistic attractions in Haidian with cherries, such as the Fragrant Hill, National Botanical Garden, Cao Xueqin Sculpture, Dajue Temple, etc. These routes will provide a rich weekend leisure experience for the public.
