On the evening of May 15, the Cherry Blossom Valley in Beijing Yuyuantan Park was transformed into a planet of "light". It marked the beginning of the 3rd Beijing International Light and Shadow Art Season, creating a new home for digital mirror art. It will be a good place for the public to spend their nighttime cultural consumption during the long display period in the future.
The Light and Shadow Art Season is based on the theme of "Harmonious coexistence between human and nature". Using water fog, lights, lasers, mirrors, interactive light devices and original music as the medium, it creates 15 landscapes, including the Colorful Worm Cave, Cloud Realm, Mysterious Light, Spiritual Valley, Magic Fog, Star Flame, Magic Light Tower, Tree of Life and Sky Aman. Each landscape is set according to the original site characteristics of the park, pursuing a perfect combination of natural environment and digital technology. They combine metaverse, artificial intelligence and other current technological hotspots to explore the philosophical implications between life, energy and digital twin, allowing the audience to see a new kind of digital ecological art.
This year, five digital interactive scenes have been set up in the venue. For example, using the national intangible cultural heritage of glazing techniques, more than a hundred branches of "glazed grass" have been planted to create a "glazed forest". By touching the interactive device, the audience can make the glazed grass sway. The newly set waterfall swing allows every child who swings to experience the fun of sitting on a swing through the waterfall without getting wet. Large interactive physical games also invite the public to follow the big screen fitness, increasing the joy. In addition, a variety of new technologies such as curved laser, digital array modeling, large projection interaction, and naked eye 3D are also cleverly used in the works to give the audience a unique immersive interactive experience.
Beijing International Light and Shadow Art Season has been held for two consecutive sessions since its launch in 2020. It has received a total of over 150,000 visitors and is widely popular. This year, the event is organized by Beijing Gehua Culture Development Group Co., Ltd. and Beijing Yuyuantan Park Administration, and will remain open until Oct. 31. During the 170-day exhibition period, there will also be a variety of special activities such as thematic exhibitions, IP co-branded parades, thematic festivals and orienteering treasure hunting competitions.
