Metamorphosis

The play "Metamorphosis" is adapted from Kafka's novel of the same name and tells the story of a courier who transforms into a beetle. The play premiered at the Anaya Theater Festival in 2021 and was the highest-rated production in the first half of the festival on Douban. In December 2021, "Metamorphosis" was performed at the National Theatre of China as part of the Beijing International Youth Theatre Festival and has since attracted widespread attention.

From "Metamorphosis" to "World on a Wire" and "the Master and Margarita," which was a hit at last year's Wuzhen Theatre Festival, director Li Jianjun has been continuously adapting three literary classics and combining them with various multimedia image technologies to expand the language of stage performance. As the first part of the multimedia image theater trilogy, "Metamorphosis" is clearly of great significance.

"World on a Wire"

The multimedia image theater play "World on a Wire" is adapted from director Fassbinder's 1973 film of the same name, which in turn was adapted from science fiction writer Daniel Galouye's 1964 novel "Simulacron-3." The story is permeated with the fears and hopes of the 1960s about reality and the future, fears and hopes that are becoming true in the present day known as the "future world." Using science fiction elements and surreal spaces, the play explores the proposition of "existence."
