26th Lilac Tourism and Cultural Festival and the 6th Zen Tea Culture Festival at Jietai Temple

On April 15th, the 26th Lilac Tourism and Cultural Festival and the 6th Zen Tea Culture Festival at Jietai Temple started with the theme "Lilac Welcomes Spring, Jietai is Filled with Purple Smoke".

Jietai Temple was built in the fifth year of the Tang Dynasty (622 AD) and is one of the oldest royal temples in Beijing. It has been a famous place for emperors to enjoy spring outings since the Ming and Qing dynasties. During April and May each year, lilacs bloom throughout the garden, filling the air with fragrance. There are 1,103 lilac trees in the park, with more than 20 trees over 200 years old. These ancient lilacs were bestowed by Emperor Qianlong and transplanted from the Changchun Garden of the Old Summer Palace. They are among the most numerous and long-lived in the Beijing area.

This cultural festival showcases the charm of Jietai Temple's culture through opening ceremonies, art performances, ancient-themed photo opportunities, photography contests, Go competitions, and calligraphy workshops, providing visitors with a comprehensive, multi-level, and diversified tourism experience.
