Lilac in April | The Palace Museum, The Summer Palace

2023-04-13

The Palace Museum

With a history of more than 600 years, the Palace Museum has ushered in spring, and the ancient trees that have gone through the vicissitudes of life shelter the spring atmosphere of the garden. In April, lilacs are in full bloom. Among the red walls and yellow tiles, they show a spring-limited elegance and romance.

The densest place of lilacs in the Palace Museum is in the Hall of Martial Valor, and the whole lilac trees in front of the hall are white and purple, like smoke. They also echo the begonia in front of the Hall of Literary Brilliance, presenting a different beauty of spring.

The lilacs of the Palace of Longevity and Health are white. The trees are high above the palace wall and the snow-white flowers are connected together, which is fragrant.

Lilac is one of the most widely planted tree species in the Palace Museum. Recently, the lilacs outside the East Prosperity Gate have also bloomed, attracting many tourists to stop and watch.

The Summer Palace

The Summer Palace is the largest and best-preserved imperial garden in China. It is also a large natural landscape garden, and spring here is naturally a special scenery. The narrow West Embankment is lined with lush trees, flanked by azure lakes, to the west by the graceful Jade Spring Hill, and to the north by the majestic the Pavilion of Buddhist Incense, forming a beautiful landscape picture.

There is a lilac road in the back mountain of the Summer Palace, starting from the foot of the Longevity Mountain in the west, following the mountain road with a very small slope to the east, to the top of the back mountain. The road is about 100 meters long. More than 300 lilacs are planted here, and the tree is five or six meters high. In the season of lilacs, staggering purple and white lilacs are like a long river of flowers.

Enter from the north gate, walk in the direction of Qingyan Baot along the street sign, and you can see this lilac road with clusters of lilacs blooming along the road. The flowers are exuding a refreshing fragrance, which is intoxicating.
