Tongzhou and Beijing's new city sub-center, where history and modernity converge on the banks of the Grand Canal, allow citizens to feel the roots of a thousand years of history and culture. Right now, Tongzhou Grand Canal Cultural and Tourism Scenic Area is working hard to create a " one ring road, five areas " highlight enhancement project.

According to reports, "one ring" refers to the 25-kilometer-long circle along the waterfront of the Northern Canal, "five areas" refers to the Daguanglou area, No. 1 pier area, No. 2 pier area, Cao Yun Pier area, Liuyin Pier area.
The Daguanglou area highlights the theme of grain inspection culture, builds a new boat pier, promotes the opening of the seven-hole bridge to the public, uses modern techniques to present the "thousands of sails through the locks"(Qianfanguozha in Chinese) of the canal scenery, restores the culture of waterworks and grain inspection culture landscape in the past, and renders the water civilization of the canal flowing for thousands of years.

No.1 pier area has a modern art sculpture "East", No.2 pier area builds a waterfront station with mast and wind flag elements, Cao Yun pier area creates a night scene atmosphere to light up the canal "night economy", and one of the eight scenes of Tongzhou, "Liu Yin Dragon Boat", is recreated in Liuyin pier area. In addition, about 12 kilometers of the Grand Canal light show, so that the eight bridges on the canal are lit up, "Tongzhou eight scenes" and other landscapes show the historical appearance of the Grand Canal and the riverfront landscape.

The sub-center, where the ancient and modern times shine together, will also recreate the millennium-old scene of "a tower's shadow recognizing Tongzhou". In the northern area of the Grand Canal Cultural and Tourism Scenic Area, the Randeng Pagoda and the surrounding ancient buildings are composed of the Confucian Temple of Civilization, the Buddhist Yushengjiao Temple, the Taoist Ziqing Palace and the Randeng Buddha's relic pagoda, forming the "Three Temples and One Pagoda" ancient building complex, which is an important place to embody the historical and cultural heritage of the Canal and highlight the humanistic landmark symbols of Tongzhou, and is also the core component of the creation of the national 5A-level tourism scenic spot.
