Emei Restaurant, opened in 1950, is the first time-honored Sichuan restaurant in Beijing that features Sichuan cuisine and seafood of Guangdong cuisine.
When the creator of Emei Restaurant, Wu Yu Sheng, came to Beijing at the age of 35 to pursue his career, he served as a cook in a small restaurant at Dongan Market and got a good reputation. Learning that time-honored brands were gathered at the western Beijing, Wu Yu Sheng determined to start a restaurant at Xicheng District. In 1950, the first Sichuan restaurant, Emei Restaurant, was open along the Chang An Avenue under the strong support of local government and regular customers. Wu Yu Sheng organized grand glee feasts for soldiers who defended the homeland. Since then, Emei Restaurant got wide popularity and fame in Beijing.
Due to social development and urban planning, Emei Restaurant was relocated serval times from Taipingqiao Street, Xidan Commercial Street to Yuetan Park nearby. In 1993, 43-year-old Emei Restaurant rented out its location and shopping mall and moved to the Shoupa hutong. To save the old brand, Emei Restaurant was relocated back to the Xicheng District and hanged with the horizontal inscribed board inscribed by Mei Lanfang. Years later, Emei Restaurant regained its popularity with enlarged scale of operation.
Covering a large area of 2,000 square meters, Emei Restaurant features delicious dishes with reasonable prices, beautiful decoration style and specialties including Sichuan cuisine and Guangdong cuisine.
