Cao Xueqin's Former Residence Memorial Hall

The original site of the Cao Xueqin’s Former Residence Memorial Hall is the former No. 207 Guangnei Street, which is the only documented residence in Beijing after the Cao Xueqin family returned to Beijing.

Walking into the memorial hall of Cao Xueqin's former residence, you can see the quaint three courtyards with green bricks, gray tiles, window mullions, and brick carvings... Everywhere is full of the ancient atmosphere.

The museum has a permanent "Cao Xueqin's Former Residence Exhibition" and the basic exhibitions are concentrated in the second courtyard, highlighting the theme of "Cao Xueqin and Beijing". It focuses on Cao Xueqin's life in Beijing Dongcheng and shows three chapters: "Returning to Beijing", "Seeking Dreams in Suanshikou" and "A Dream of the Red Mansion".

The Cao Xueqin Former Residence Memorial Hall and the Cao Xueqin Memorial Hall located at the National Botanical Garden at the foot of Xishan are two places for the fans to trace the footprints of Cao Xueqin and understand his cultural life.

Zhangjiawan Park

The literary giant Cao Xueqin is inextricably linked with Zhangjiawan. According to documents, Cao Xueqin's family once had fields and pawnshops in Zhangjiawan, Tongzhou, Beijing. It was in Zhangjiawan that the stone carvings of Cao Xueqin's tomb were unearthed. Not far from the south bank of the Xiaotaihou River west of the Zhangjiawan Tongyun Bridge, there is also a bronze statue of Cao Xueqin.

In Zhangjiawan Park, there is a "Caoshiyinji" scenic spot. The attraction is mainly the water of the lake area. The north square is set up as "Falling Flower Bridge and Autumn Water Pavilion", and the south bank is set up as "Spring Mountain Pavilion", connected by a trestle bridge in the middle. On the main square on the north side, a large number of scenic walls and windows tell the story of the life of Cao Xueqin through poetry and carving.

Zhangjiawan, an ancient town by the canal, has merged into the enduring "Jinghua historical context" because of its wonderful fate with Cao Xueqin.
