In the South Second Ring Road of Beijing, there is a landscape full of Jiangnan charm and old Beijing courtyard characteristic. This is the Beijing Grand View Garden (or Daguanyuan), one of the shooting places for the TV drama Dream of Red Mansions in 1987.
The Grand View Garden was first built in 1984 for the filming of the TV series Dream of Red Mansions. After discussions among redologists, ancient architects, gardeners and experts in Qing history, the garden was built using the techniques of classical Chinese architecture and traditional gardening techniques.
There are more than 40 pavilions and courtyards in the garden, with various mountains, rivers, flowers and trees, just like a fairyland on earth.
The construction of Grand View Garden has integrated the essence of redology scholarship, ancient construction technology and traditional gardening art, which combines the magnificence of northern royal gardens with the quietness of southern folk gardens.
