The Ming Tombs

In 2000, the Ming Xianling Tomb, Qing Dongling Tomb and Qing Xiling Tomb were added to the World Cultural Heritage List; In 2003, the Ming Xiaoling Tomb and the Ming Tombs were added to the World Cultural Heritage List; In 2004, the three tombs of Shengjing - Fuling, Zhaoling and Yongling were added to the World Cultural Heritage List as an extension of the imperial tombs of the Ming and Qing dynasties. 

The Ming Tombs are located at the foot of Tianshou Mountain, about 50 kilometers from Beijing. The mausoleum area is surrounded by mountains, the middle is a plain, and there is a small river winding in front of the mausoleum. There are beautiful mountains and waters, and pleasant scenery. The Ming Tombs is built on the east, west and north foothills, forming a complete system, and it has a grand scale.  

It was built in 1409 and has a history of more than 300 to 600 years old. The Ming Tombs cover an area of 40 square kilometers, and is the largest existing imperial tomb complex in China and even in the world, with the largest number of imperial tombs. From the construction of Changling in the seventh year of Yongle of the Ming Dynasty (1409 AD) to the construction of Siling in the early years of the Shunzhi of the Qing Dynasty, thirteen imperial tombs were built in more than 200 years. The tombs of 13 emperors, 23 empresses, and 10 concubines were in there.

The Grand Canal 

The Grand Canal of China was added to the World Cultural Heritage List in June 2014. The Grand Canal, first founded in 486 BC, consists of three major parts including the Sui-Tang Grand Canal, the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal and the East Zhejiang Canal, and ten river sections, involving 27 cities in 8 provinces along the canal. 

The ancient canal, flowing for thousands of years, has created a flowing living world cultural heritage grand canal.  

Starting from the northern starting point of the Grand Canal Beijing Baifuquan Ruins, you can go to Shichahai to feel the beautiful scenery and Beijing culture, and visit various shops, temples and tower to feel the charm of history and culture.
