Zhuanta Hutong had appeared as early as the Yuan Dynasty. The name has not changed for more than 700 years, so Mr. Luo Zhewen called it "the root of Beijing Hutong".

Former residence of Lu Xun
In July 1923, Lu Xun and his wife Zhu 'an moved to No. 61 Zhuanta Hutong and lived here until May 1924. The hard conditions of the small coutyard did not stop him from writing. He created many great works during the nine months.
Former residence of Zhang Henshui
The novel Zhang Henshui created reflects a wide range of content with clear sign of the times. After the victory of the Anti-Japanese War, Zhang Henshui returned to Beijing and worked as the manager of Xinmin News. After that, he bought a small courtyard house in Zhuanta Hutong and lived there until the spring of 1967.
