During the Northern Song Dynasty, Chen Shimei entered Beijing to take the imperial exam and won the title of Zhuangyuan. He married a princess. His hometown suffered drought for many years and his parents died. So, his original wife Qin Xianglian took her children to Beijing to find him, but was expelled from the palace. Prime Minister Wang Yanling took pity on her and tried to get Qin Xianglian to play and sing at the banquet on Chen Shimei's birthday to help them reunite. Chen Shimei did not allow it and secretly sent the people to kill Han Qi. Han asked the reason and finally released Qin Xianglian and her son, and then killed himself. Qin Xianglian escaped from the Sanguan Hall and accused Chen Shimei of "killing his wife and son" before Bao Zheng. Bao Zheng summoned Chen Shimei and ordered Qin to confront him. Chen Shimei denied the accusation with unreasonable words. Bao Zheng was angry and wanted to kill Chen. When the princess heard the news, she tried to stop it. Bao Zheng was awe-inspiring and resolutely killed Chen Shimei.

Ballet "Dream of the Red Mansion"

The play does not unfold from a linear narrative perspective, but takes the audience into Baoyu's spiritual world to experience the sincere love between Baoyu and Daiyu in the rotation of time and space. Baoyu who has experienced the changes of the world also symbolizes the contemplation and inquiry of human love and the love of life.

At present, the play is in the stage of rehearsal and the media has released two clips of "Rongguo Mansion" and "Reading the West Wing" for the first time. "Rongguo Mansion" shows the scene of the big family. Although there are no real scenes and props in the rehearsal hall, the grandness can be imagined from the full expression of the group dance of the Chinese and ballet actors. "Reading the West Wing" is a classic scene. In the rehearsal hall, Daiyu played by Qiu Yunting and Baoyu played by Li Wentao danced, stretching their beautiful limbs. Multiple lifting movements symbolize the feelings between Baoyu and Daiyu. Zhang Qingshan, president of the China Dream of Red Mansions Study Group, sighed after watching it that the ballet adaptation of "Dream of Red Mansions" is very appropriate, He believes that the performance of this work will make a great contribution to the dissemination of “Dream of Red Mansion”.
