Lanterns and Festoons, which is an exhibition of court lamps and treasures collected by the Palace Museum, has three theme units which are “Wanshou”, “Dahun”, and “Chunjie”. Visitors can feel the charm of the century-old craftsmanship in the multi-dimensional immersive time and space exhibition of the Forbidden City that includes sound, light, electricity, film, painting, etc.

Among them, the “Chunjie” unit contains the ceremonial century-old palace lanterns and historical stories, taking you into the joyous atmosphere of “lanterns and festoons”.

Spring Festival has been one of the most solemn festivals since ancient times. The festival during the period of the Qing dynasty began on the first day of the twelfth lunar month and ended on the third day of February, lasting more than two months. In many ceremonies of the Qing Palace, lanterns are used; Some palace lanterns were endowed with different auspicious meanings. 

In the fusion of light and shadow, the beauty of the century-old lanterns and the charm of oriental court aesthetics is displayed. Come to the palace lantern exhibition to meet the beauty.

Intime Department Store

“Lanterns Light Up”

From January 7 to February 14, 2023, Intime Department Store collaborates with "Guochao" calligraphy artist Zhu Jingyi to jointly present the Chinese New Year Lantern Festival, which is a dialogue with traditional culture in a younger way.

Entering the fourth floor of Intime Department Store, the 300-square-meter lighting installation allows visitors to see lights everywhere as if they instantly traveled back to the prosperous lantern festival thousands of years ago. The atmosphere of the Chinese new year is strong there with cute little rabbits, beautiful lights and lanterns.

Visitors can make wishes for the next year under the lanterns, shoot a set of New Year's photos in antique scenes, and shop at a variety of antique stalls. There are also beautiful New Year flowers, festive blessing characters, gourmet snacks, and hoop games... You can have a one-stop immersion experience full of rituals.
