The Museum of Chinese Gardens and Landscape Architecture is China's first garden-themed national museum. Covering an area of 65,000 square meters, the museum takes "Chinese gardens - our ideal home" as the philosophy of the museum. It is a public welfare cultural institution that collects characteristic cultural relics, studies the historical value of the garden, displays the charm of garden art, and carries forward China's excellent traditional culture. Known as a "living museum", it is an important window of comprehensively displaying Chinese gardens' long history, splendid culture, diversified functions, and brilliant achievements.

The Museum of Chinese Gardens and Landscape Architecture is mainly composed of exhibition halls, indoor exhibition gardens, and outdoor exhibition areas. Among them, the exhibition halls include two basic exhibition halls and four thematic exhibition halls. The former include the Chinese Classic Garden Exhibition Hall and Chinese Modern Landscape Architecture Exhibition Hall. The later include Exhibition Hall of World Famous Gardens, Exhibition Hall of Chinese Garden Culture, Exhibition Hall of Chinese Gardening Artistry, and Interaction Hall. The indoor exhibition garden captures the essence of southern gardens, including three garden landscapes: Changyuan Garden, Yuyin Shanfang, and Pianshi Shanfang. The outdoor exhibition area is composed of three northern gardens that are Taying Bieyuan, Ranxia Shanfang, and Banmu Xuanxie according to their terrain characteristics. As a national 4A tourist scenic spot, the museum displays more than 200 kinds of plants and more than 10 kinds of rocks, representing the diversity of traditional Chinese gardens. The museum has 16 collections such as pottery, porcelain, wood, ancient books, and relatively completely show the development of Chinese gardens.
