The Five Major Avenues
The Five Major Avenues refers to an approximately rectangular area south of Chengdu Road, north of Machang Road, east of Xikang Road, and west of Machang Road and Nanjing Road, in Heping District, Tianjin, with a total of 23 roads and a total area of 1.28 square kilometers.
There are more than 2,000 buildings of various types on the Five Major Avenues and 423 small western-style buildings listed by the Tianjin Municipal Government as historical buildings of different levels. Various architectural styles come together in one place, which is called the “Universal Architecture Exhibition”.
Minyuan Square is located in the center of the five avenues. Its predecessor Minyuan Stadium was built in 1920, and the first football event after the founding of the People’s Republic of China was held there.
