2023-01-18

Located on the shores of the Bohai Gulf, Tianjin is more than 600 years old. The city is both ancient and young, open and inclusive. With the Spring Festival holiday approaching, you may wish to arrange a short trip to this historical and cultural city to feel its heaviness and calmness. The following are some scenic spots for your reference.

The Five Major Avenues

The Five Major Avenues refers to an approximately rectangular area south of Chengdu Road, north of Machang Road, east of Xikang Road, and west of Machang Road and Nanjing Road, in Heping District, Tianjin, with a total of 23 roads and a total area of 1.28 square kilometers.

There are more than 2,000 buildings of various types on the Five Major Avenues and 423 small western-style buildings listed by the Tianjin Municipal Government as historical buildings of different levels. Various architectural styles come together in one place, which is called the “Universal Architecture Exhibition”.

Minyuan Square is located in the center of the five avenues. Its predecessor Minyuan Stadium was built in 1920, and the first football event after the founding of the People’s Republic of China was held there.

Minyuan Square integrates leisure and sports, special catering, characteristic culture, and tourist service centers, and has become the core area of the Five Major Avenues.

Italian Style Street

Groups of small western-style buildings, Marco Polo Square, and Dante Square are in the Italian Style Street, which attracts many tourists to stop. The street is within walking distance from Tianjin Railway Station.

This block was originally leased by Italy in 1902. After a renovation in 2009, more than 200 well-preserved European buildings have been transformed into a comprehensive multi-functional area that integrates tourism, commerce, leisure, entertainment, and cultural museums.

Historically, many personalities in military, political and cultural circles have lived here.
