Beijing Eight Imperial Handicrafts Museum is located in the ancient Cheng'en Temple of the Ming Dynasty with a history of more than 500 years in Moshikou Street, Shijingshan District. The museum collects hundreds of handicraft works, including the “Beijing Eight Imperial Handicrafts”: Gold-inlaid Lacquareware, Filigree Inlaid Metal Art, Cloisonne, Ivory carving, jade carving, Carved Lacquer, Beijing Embroidery, and Court Carpet, and also other handicrafts like ancient wood carving, root carving, stone carving, and so on. The museum is the first non-state-owned museum in Shijingshan District officially approved by the Beijing Municipal Cultural Heritage Bureau and the Beijing Municipal Civil Affairs Bureau. It’s the first intangible-cultural-heritage museum, integrating displaying court art and experiencing court skills. Located in a cultural relics spot under national protection, it’s also the first museum in China jointly built by nearly 100 masters of craftsmanship and inheritors of intangible cultural heritage over ten years. The museum was officially opened to the public in July 2021.
In August 2021, Beijing Eight Imperial Handicrafts Museum was recognized by the All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese as the ninth batch of overseas Chinese international cultural exchange bases; In December 2021, it was selected as one of the "Top Ten Cultural Consumption Landmarks in the 2021 Beijing Cultural Consumption Brand List".
