2022-12-14

The 2022 Ming Culture Forum was held in Changping District. At the event, 105 unearthed cultural relics were made pubic, of which more than 20 were exhibited for the first time. These cultural relics represent the essence of Ming culture and highlight the cultural value and historical connotation of the Ming Tombs. The reporter learned that the cultural relics exhibition will be open to the public at due time.

Entering the historical and cultural exhibition area of the Ming Tombs, visitors can see relics such as Wanli gold chopsticks, gilded plain cups, gilded butterfly spoons and various kinds of gold hairpins which are neatly displayed in the transparent glass booth, making you feel as if you have travelled back to the Ming Dynasty. Among the 105 unearthed cultural relics on display, there are 15 Class I cultural relics, 8 Class II cultural relics and 2 Class III cultural relics. These cultural relics are beautiful in shape and ornate in decoration. For example, the first-class cultural relic gold eucharist cup, whose three legs, columns, handles and body are welded together after being made separately, demonstrating a very ingenious design concept.

The most precious treasure in the cultural relics exhibition must be the national treasure of the Ming Dynasty, the golden wing crown. Qi Jingjing, the cultural research specialist of the Ming Tombs Management Center, introduced that the front , back and corner of the golden wing crown were made of extremely fine gold wire braided and stacked, with symmetrical holes and no joint traces on the surface. The body, head, claw and fin of the dragon were made by traditional techniques such as silk cutting, silk accumulation, silk coding, carving and carving, which fully reflected the superb technology of gold and silver craftsmanship in the Ming Dynasty.

The reporter learned that the tourist center of the Ming Tombs Scenic Area, where the cultural relics exhibition is located, also made a new appearance, which is based on the closed business premises of the scenic area. In addition to the cultural relics exhibition, there are also digital interactive experience areas and cultural relics gallery display areas. There are also four functional areas in the tourist center, which are respectively the tourist reception area, the main venue for conference activities, the tourist service office and guest reception room, and the reading and leisure area. Chain brands such as coffee and tea have been introduced, and nearly 10000 books have been selected to create a “tourist center in the fragrance of books”.

This forum also released the logo of the Ming Culture Forum and the logo of the World Heritage of the Ming Tombs. Among them, the logo of the Ming Culture Forum uses the character "Ming" in seal script. The design of the world heritage logo of the Ming Tombs includes the full name of the serial heritage “Royal Tombs of the Ming and Qing Dynasties”, as well as the name of the heritage site of the Ming Tombs. The final expression form will be formed after the UNESCO World Heritage Center passed the approval.

The relevant person in charge of Changping District said that in the past 20 years since the Ming Tombs were included in the World Heritage List, they have made a series of achievements in cultural relics repair, exhibition and digital technology application, which has accumulated important experience for promoting the protection of China’s world heritage and more valuable experience for the protection of relevant global world heritage.

Moreover, the forum also established a think tank of Ming culture experts and a global alliance of Ming culture associations, which will integrate the research strength of Ming history and culture, create a unique label of Ming culture around the traditional cultural attributes of the Ming Tombs and Juyong Pass, while carrying out the collection, collation, research and promotion of the historical and cultural materials of the Ming Tombs, Juyong Pass and related to the Ming Dynasty, and building a communication center of Ming culture in all aspects and from multiple perspectives.
