Nanyuan Forest and Wetland Park will carry the three core functions of ecological recreation, national cultural display and characteristic life service.

Nanyuan Forest and Wetland Park is located in the southeast of Fengtai District, north to the South Fourth Ring Road, south to the Nanyuan East Road and Jingbei West Road, west to the Beijing-Kaifeng Highway, east to the boundary of Daxing District and Fengtai District, with a total land area of 15.59 square kilometers.

Nanyang Forest and Wetland Park will carry three core functions. The first is to build beautiful environment with natural science and education, scenic tour, sports fitness, cultural experience and other functions. The second is to implement national cultural display. It will focus on the functions of national cultural exhibition and expo, international cultural exchange and conference. The third is to create a high-quality community with commercial services, leisure life, sports and other functions.

According to the plan, Nanyuan Forest and Wetland Park will build an overall spatial structure of "one axis, two belts, two cores and six areas". "One axis" is the future development axis of ecological culture; The "two belts" are the Dahongmen Yudao historical and cultural belt and the Xiaolonghe natural ecological belt. The "two cores" are wetland ecological conservation core and forest ecological conservation core. The "six areas" are wetland ecological area, forest ecological area, cultural exchange area, national cultural display function area, urban leisure service area, and urban life service area.

Nanyuan Forest and Wetland Park will also build royal garden culture as the core, and integrate railway, aerospace and other modern cultural elements, forming multi-branch cultural display system.
