The China Space Museum is the earliest professional exhibition hall of space science and technology in China and the largest in Asia. It was officially renamed the China Space Museum in 2020. In July this year, the museum selected a new site and launched the exhibition hall upgrade project, and officially opened in November.
Entering the entrance of the museum, visitors can see two groups of rocket mode, a number of physical exhibits let people feast their eyes. The 8-meter-tall escape tower of the Long March 2F carrier rocket appears in the carrier rocket exhibition hall, which is the "life tower" to ensure the safety of astronauts in manned space launch missions. The re-entry capsule of the Shenzhou 4 spacecraft is mottled, which is the mark left by the burn of the surface insulation material during its return to Earth.
Behind it is a red and white re-entry capsule main parachute, which covers an area of 1,200 square meters, the size of three basketball courts, but can be folded into a handbag. In the man-made satellite exhibition area, there is the backup star of China's first man-made satellite "Dongfanghong-1".
The application of new technologies such as modern sound, photoelectric and virtual reality has brought the spirit of spaceflight to life. The Long March 5 carrier rocket transfer and launch simulation platform, in the form of a sand table with a large screen, demonstrates the each link of transferring and launching, allowing the audience to immerse in the rocket launch site. Through the virtual reality roaming system of the China Space Station, the audience can also immerse themselves in the space life inside the space station, and the space bicycle and space sleeping bag on display are also available for practical experience.
"Various systems of China's space are reflected in the museum." Chen Qing, deputy director of the China Space Museum, introduces that the museum has enhanced the display effect through various means such as physical objects, documents, multimedia, virtual reality experience and interactive equipment, so as to meet the needs of professional audiences and ordinary audiences to the greatest extent. This exhibition upgrades for the first time and shows the whole picture of China's space, from the space history, organizations, products, figures, spirit and culture and other aspects. It’s an all-round introduction of China's space related parties and various business fields.
