To let more people, see the infinite possibilities of solo plays, stimulate the enthusiasm of dramatists and provide a performance platform for independent creators, six dramatists, Pu Cunxin, Ren Dongsheng, Shi Hang, Li Yangduo, Zheng Yunlong and Ding Yiteng, jointly launched "I Know Where the Light is - The 1st Drum Tower West One-Man Show Festival", which will be held at the Drum Tower West Theater from December 12 to 25.
At the opening ceremony held on December 12, Pu Cunxin, as the "leader of the first Drum Tower West One-Man Festival", will join five other co-sponsors to chat with everyone online. The one-man show "Listen to Your Inner Ape" will also be the opening performance of this year's One-Man Festival, which will be broadcast online for free for the first time.
The first Drum Tower West One-Man Festival "Exhibition Unit" will specially invite four unique solo opera works to be staged at the Drum Tower West Theater, including "Listen to Your Inner Ape", directed by Xi Wang and starring Li Tengfei and adapted from Kafka's short story "Report to a Academy of Sciences", would be staged on December 14; "The Fate of Life" staged on December 21 and 22, written by Hu Hanchi and Zhang Cheng, directed by Hu Hanchi and starring Li Zhengzheng; On December 24 and 25, "Silent Blossom" was staged by Nong Miao Miao, directed by Lang Jianfei and starring Yang Zhen. In addition, the "Immersive Chinese Style Show" unit held at the Drum Tower West Theater Cafe house will be staged on December 19, 20 and 23 and 24 respectively, bringing another two works with "national style".
The first Drum Tower West One-Man Drama Festival "One-Man Short Play Competition Unit" on December 18 has seven high-quality One-Man short plays such as "Resting Place", "Du", "Tā, You, Me", "OneOne Story", "Pan", "Mr. Jiali" and "Killing Ivanov". After fierce competition and on-site voting, the play with the highest number of votes will receive a medal and prize money for the "Drum Tower West One-Man Show".
The "Drama Public Welfare Lecture" unit of the first Drum Tower West One-Man Drama Festival will specially invite Song Baozhen, Director of the Drama Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Arts, and Song Libo, Professor of the Performance Department of the Central Academy of Drama, to give two public lectures on December 17 and 23 respectively with the themes of "Adaptation of Famous Books and Uni-play Opera" and "Appreciation of Uni-Drama Performance Skills", leading everyone to feel the diverse charm of solo opera from the perspective of creation through online broadcast. The "Drama Forum" unit held on December 20 will invite dramatists, crew representatives and some audiences in the industry to talk about one-man theater with the theme of "The Light of Solo Play".
