Route Highlights:
01 Jingxi Ancient Road
Jingxi Ancient Road Scenic Area, covering an area of 1.5 square kilometers, lies in Shui Yu Zui Village, Miaofeng Mountain Town of Mentougou District. The scenic area boasts the first folk museum in Mentougou District. The museum will introduce the Jingxi Ancient Road from 4 aspects: history, restoration, functions and related customs. Next to the museum lies a military-themed bar, rebuilt on an air-raid shelter. Jing Xi Ancient Road is well-preserved, with a long history of 1 thousand year and the length of 1,500 meters. Ox Horn Ridge, the first pass of the Ancient Road, separated two towns as an important nude. The Master Temple, Yard of Calligraphy, Small Dam, Tea Stall, Ancient Smithy, Cosplay of CS and other attractions are included in this area. Visitors can also taste authentic Feast of Caravan and its culture.
02 Wulituo Folk-custom Exhibition Hall
Wulituo Folk-custom Exhibition Hall is located in Wulituo Village, Shijingshan District of Western Beijing, at the foot of Qing Mountain. The hall was built on 200-year-old Wang Family Courtyard. The Culture Square, which is divided by 2 quaint courtyards, covers an area of 800 square meters. The left courtyard consists of Folk Exhibition Hall, Xue Li Room and Study of Guo Xue. Above the door of the Hall, there are inscribed words: Home in the Yard.
03 Moshikou Historical and Cultural Block
Moshikou Historical and Cultural Block, adjacent to ancient Fahai Temple and Glacial Relics Museum and east to downtown Beijing, is an important node of the ancient path with profound culture and century-old streets. The Ancient Camel Road was built in Ming and Qing Dynasty, connecting the Capital Beijing and areas beyond the Great Wall. Lao She also wrote about the ancient road in his novel Rickshaw Boy which was a pivot for troops of camel. Fahai Temple and Cheng’en Temple can be found on this road, which are closed every Monday. A roadside coffee shop is open to the public, where visitors can admire the street view. Street snacks like Stuffed and Fried Dough Twists, steamed stuffed buns and fired cake only sold in the morning are warmly received by visitors. In Love Time Bookstore and Art Gallery, visitors can read awarded Children’s book and imitation works of Riverside Scene at Qingming Festival.
