On the evening of September 1, a comprehensive literary and art gala with the theme of "Striving for a New Era and Setting sail for a New Journey" was performed at the National Centre for the Performing Arts in Beijing, marking the official opening of the 13th China Art Festival. Sun Chunlan, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and vice premier of the State Council, attended the opening ceremony, and Huang Kunming, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and director of the Central Propaganda Department, attended and announced the opening.

Co-sponsored by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the Beijing Municipal People's Government, the Tianjin Municipal People's Government and the People's Government of Hebei Province, with the purpose of "Feast of Art, Festival of People", the 13th China Art Festival adheres to the principle of "innovation, openness, boutique, sharing and integration", and fully demonstrates the new height of literary and artistic work since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China.

During the Festival, there will be outstanding stage art works from all over the country for performance, including 58 Wenhua Award entries, 26 specially invited plays, and more than 100 stars award entries. Three art exhibitions will be displayed, including national excellent art works, calligraphy and seal engraving, photography. The National Performing Arts and Cultural and Creative Products Expo will also be on display. In addition, Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei will also carry out various forms of people-beneficial art activities and distinctive cultural and tourism activities, so as to promote the in-depth development of the integration of culture and tourism in Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei.

China Art Festival is the highest standard and most influential national comprehensive cultural and artistic event in China, and has been successfully held for 12 sessions since its inception in 1987.
