Based on Wang Meng's novel of the same name, director Li Bonan has been successfully shortlisted for the 17th Wenhua Director Award for his adaptation of the stage play "Activity Into Human Form". After the completion of the 13th China Art Festival, from August 31 to September 1, the play will take place at the Shunyi Grand Theatre in Beijing. This is also the first time for the play to debut in Beijing since its last show on the drama stage last year.
"Activity Into Human Form" is produced by China Arts and Entertainment Group, and CPAA Theatre is the chief producer. Adapted from the work of the same name, the play tells the story of Ni Wucheng, who returned from studying abroad and had troubles with his wife Jiang Jingyi, quarreling and fighting all day long in the early 1940s. His mother-in-law Jiang Zhao and eldest sister-in-law Jiang Jingzhen still add fuel to the flame, leading to a family life full of troubles and performing a farce as well as a tragedy of marriage, suicide, and exodus.
In the re-creation of "Activity Into Human Form", director Li Bonan guided the actors to use the hypothetical nature of the theatrical stage, under the basic creative principles of realism, to use stage time and space to integrate the meaning of "activity into human form" with strong imagery into the creation, conveying the novel's sense of "black humor" and "stream of consciousness".
While announcing that "Activity Transforms Into Human Form" will soon be staged, Shunyi Grand Theatre also revealed the key performance arrangements for the second half of this year. The theater will introduce performances such as the Chinese Acrobatic Troupe "Treasure of Heaven and Earth", the Chinese version of the Broadway interactive parent-child science drama "Chemistry Show", the "Red Detachment of Women" of the National Ballet of China, the drama "East Lake Hotel" of the China Coal Mine Art Troupe, "Dance for the People" - "Dancing Classics" and other performances to enrich the cultural life of the masses.
