Drum Tower West Theatre (鼓楼西剧场) is named for its location in the Drum Tower area where is rich in literature and art in Beijing.

As a new representative of the third generation of small theaters in China, Drum Tower West Theatre not only has perfect hardware facilities and excellent performances, but also regularly hosts various cultural activities every year.

Drum Tower West Theatre is located at No.6 Xiaoba Daowan Hutong, Drum Tower West Street, with a usable area of 1,000 square meters, 262 audience seats, and more than 260 performances per year.

In addition to theatre services, Drum Tower West Theatre always holds cultural salons. These include cultural salons with rich themes, cultural lectures and script reading sessions initiated by the famous screenwriter Shi Hang, etc. Moreover, Drum Tower West Theatre also cooperates with foreign embassies and cultural institutions in China to absorb foreign culture and present domestic culture.

Recent Performances

1. The Pillowman (《枕头人》)

The Pillowman written by Irish playwright Martin McDonagh, won the 2004 and 2005 British Drama Oliver Awards and the American Drama Critics Circle Award for Best Drama. It is presented at Drum Tower West Theatre from August 24 to 28.

2. A Behanding in Spokane (《断手斯城》)

A Behanding in Spokane tells the story of a dilapidated hotel room in a small town in the United States. Carmichael, a mystery guy, has spent 27 years looking for his lost left hand. Toby and Marilyn, two quarreling lovers, assert ownership of his long-lost appendage and try to seize the prize Carmichael is putting up for its recovery. When Mervyn, a strange hotel receptionist, intervenes in the deal, it raises concerns that it would jeopardize everything.

It will be presented from August 1 to 12 at Drum Tower West Theatre.
