"The 2022 Beijing Great Wall Cultural Festival will open on the evening of August 20 in Gubei Water Town, Miyun. The festival will showcase the majestic beauty of the Great Wall, inspire national pride, and highlight the cultural heritage of the Great Wall and the spirit of the times around the beauty of the Great Wall, the rhythm of the Great Wall, the journey of the Great Wall and the soul of the Great Wall.

The festival is organized by the Propaganda Department of the Municipal Party Committee, and hosted by the Municipal Bureau of Cultural Heritage, the Municipal Bureau of Cultural Tourism, and the Miyun District Party Committee and District Government. The Miyun district of the Great Wall in Beijing is 182.97 km long, and the Simatai Great Wall, where the opening ceremony was held, was also praised by Great Wall expert Luo Zhewen as "the Great Wall of China's best" and topped the list of "the world's most must-see scenery". The opening ceremony will introduce the results of Beijing's work to promote the conservation of the Great Wall, unveil the main route of the "Jingji Great Wall" National Scenic Byway, hold a ceremony to present the Great Wall-themed Chinese painting "Simatai Faraway View" by the Li Keran Painting Institute, and honor Beijing's most beautiful heritage guardians in 2022. China Oriental Performing Arts Group's phenomenal stage art production "The Journey of a Legendary Landscape Painting" will also be showcased at the opening ceremony, telling China's story through art.

Miyun District will carry out a series of activities with distinctive features and high public participation around the theme of the cultural festival to showcase Eastern aesthetics. For example, the "Beautiful Beijing-Charming Great Wall" Beijing Great Wall International Photography Week will feature a selection of 100 photographs of the Great Wall on display in Gubei Water Town. These works record the steep mountains and valleys of the Wuling Mountains in the east of Miyun, the winding mountains of the Yunfeng Mountains in the north, the strange and dangerous mountains of the Yunmeng Mountains in the west, the green sea and forests of the Kigu Mountains in the south, and the beautiful water scenery of more than 20 reservoirs and two rivers in Miyun, the Chaohe, and Baihe.

On August 21, the "Thousand Year Old Town - The Promise of the Great Wall" Gubeikou Great Wall Temple Festival will be held in Gubeikou Village, where people can enjoy a tour of 12 folk flower shows and local villagers will also show scenes of generals garrisoning the border, ancient French medicine and harvest celebrations through a drama. Activities such as the Gubeikou Cultural Exhibition and the Taste of Ancient Style Bazaar will also allow visitors to enjoy a cultural feast.
