A new musical inspired by the fast development of the Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area was announced on Monday. The upcoming Dream and Reality, to be staged by the Beijing Performance & Arts Group, is set to make its debut at the Beijing Tianqiao Performing Arts Center on October 15.

Themed on the area's slogan "We always turn dreams into reality," the drama focuses on a group of people who have devoted themselves to the area's industries and coming up with innovative ways to boost smart manufacturing.

According to Xu Rui, the musical's director, the production team visited the high technology companies in the area several times for inspiration, leading to 11 updates to the script.

Dong Ning, vice general manger of the Beijing Performance & Arts Group, said that as a musical, a popular genre among young people, the upcoming performance will take audiences on a trip to a city full of digital imagination.
