According to the Records of Xiguan of the Ming Dynasty, the Stone Buddha Temple is located 15 miles north of Juyongguan. The temple is named after the statues of Buddha made of stones. The temple was built during the Yongle period of the Ming Dynasty. The village is located next to the temple and was named after it. The temple was destroyed by the Eight-Power Allied Forces in 1900, and most of the stone Buddhas inside were destroyed. It was moved to the present site and rebuilt in the early 1990s when the Shuiguan Great Wall was restored. At the present site, stone Buddhas unearthed from the Golden Fish Pond are displayed on a platform for visitors to view. These Buddha statues are relics of the Yuan Dynasty and have a history of more than 700 years.
