Yanqi Lake is located at the foot of Yanshan Mountain, 8 kilometers north of Huairou City in the suburbs of Beijing. It is surrounded by the majestic Great Wall in the north and the endless North China Plain in the south, and is a scenic water paradise.
Yanqi Lake is surrounded by mountains on three sides. In the north, there is Jundu Mountain with an altitude of 1,200 meters. In the west, there is Hongluo Mountain with an altitude of 811 meters. In the east, there is Golden Lamp Mountain with an altitude of 186 meters. There are maples, pines and cypresses, torch trees and their trees and shrubs on the mountain, covering an area of 1.5 square kilometers. The vegetation coverage rate in the whole tourist scenic area is 90%. It is surrounded by mountains on three sides. With a natural barrier, the lake area is free from wind and sand intrusion. The air is humid all year round and the average year-round temperature is 11.7 °C. The annual rainfall is 666.4 mm and the relative humidity is 55% on average per year, with 75-77% in July and August. The atmospheric quality is first class. The water quality in the lake is pure, with dozens of aquatic animals such as fish, shrimps and turtles, and cherished animals such as golden-sided ground turtles and baby fish have been found many times. Rare migratory birds such as geese, cranes, mute swans and freshwater gulls, which have high requirements for water quality, often roost and breed on the lake shore.
