Sanshan (Three Mountains) Temple was named after its location among the three mountains of Cuiwei, Pingpo and Lushi. Founded in the 3rd year of the Tiande period of the Jin Dynasty (1151), Sanshan Temple was rebuilt during the Qianlong period. There are three rooms in the Hall of the Mountain Gate. Facing the Mountain Gate is the Great Hall with five rooms, where the statue of Sakyamuni is enshrined. During the Yongzheng and Qianlong years of the Qing Dynasty, a senior monk, Daitian Tongli Zen Master, used to study Zen theory here. He wrote books and created theories and became famous at that time.
