Mei Lanfang Memorial Hall was established in October 1986 and is located at No.9 Huguosi Street, Xicheng District, Beijing. It is a typical Beijing courtyard. As part of Prince Qing's mansion in the late Qing Dynasty, it covers an area of more than 1,000 square meters. The vermilion lacquer gate is hung with the inscription "Mei Lanfang Memorial Hall" written by Deng Xiaoping himself. At the entrance, a bust of Mei Lanfang is placed in front of the large shadow screen made of green stones and brick tiles. In front of the small shadow screen inside the screen door, there are four stone carved small round piers and a Chinese white jade fish basin. The east, west and north rooms are built with corridors and red-painted columns. There are brightly colored paintings along the corridor. There are two persimmon trees and two begonia trees in the courtyard, which mean "safety and peace". Since 1951, the outstanding Peking Opera performer Mei Lanfang haf spent the last ten years of his life in this quiet and peaceful courtyard. The former residence of Mei Lanfang was promulgated as a National Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit by the State Council in March 2013.

Mei Lanfang memorial hall has two parts. The main courtyard preserves the original appearance of the former residence, including the reception hall, study, bedroom and living room. The furnishings in the room are displayed according to Mei Lanfang's living conditions. The East and West exhibition rooms are special exhibitions, and the exhibition contents are updated from time to time. The exhibition room of the outer courtyard briefly introduces Mei Lanfang's artistic and social activities in his life with a large number of precious pictures.
