Located in the southwest of Fangshan District, Beijing, Shidu Scenic Area is the only large-scale karst landform in northern China. Shidu Scenic Area is a river valley formed by the Juma River, a tributary of the Daqing River, cutting through the northern end of the Taihang Mountains, with a total length of about 20 kilometers. Since there are a total of ten ferry crossings across the Juma River in this valley in history, it is named "Shidu".
There are not only ten ferry crossings in Shidu Scenic Area, but actually a total of 18 crossings, and each of them has different scenery. The excursions of the Shidu are mainly concentrated in the Sixth Ferry ( Gushan Village ), the Ninth Ferry ( Juma Paradise ), the Fifteenth Ferry ( East Lake Port ), the Seventeenth Ferry ( Wild Battle in Dadongou ), and the Nineteenth Ferry ( First Drift on the Juma River ).
