The new Ferris wheel at the Shijingshan Amusement Park in west Beijing starts commercial operation on Jan. 28, 2017, the first day of the Spring Festival, the traditional Chinese New Year. It is 88 meters in diameter and about 100 meters from its highest point to ground. It has 42 booths, each containing up to eight people. One rotation takes 18 minutes.
