Cuandixia Village still preserves more than 500 quadrangle courtyards from the Ming and Qing Dynasties. The Cuan houses are transformations of the traditional courtyard houses, and look very ancient in general. Cuandixia Village, Mentougou District

Cuandixia Village is built on the hillside. Therefore, the houses have varying heights. Centred on the back dragon head of the village and the north-south axis, the whole village is fan-shaped spreading out on both sides. There are 74 sets of Qing Dynasty dwellings with 689 rooms in total. In the tall mountains under the sky and the clouds, this is absolutely a fairyland outside human world. Below Cuantou is a natural pass. The rift valley is more than 100m long, forming a typical fault landscape, which can be called a natural danger. This unique landscape is commonly known as “Yi Xian Tian (one strip of sky)”.

Cuan She

Cuan She B&B is located in Cuandixia Village, Mentougou District, which has a history of more than 400 years. Cuan She was transformed from a traditional courtyard house. The owner of the courtyard refurbished his old courtyard to give it new meaning and vitality while retaining the original style.

Compared with the farmhouses that used to be the same everywhere, the interior decoration of “Cuan She” is a combination of Chinese and Western styles with high-end hotel standards. It is also decorated with traditional Chinese calligraphy and painting, and ornaments, attracting many white-collar workers in Beijing to stay here for weekends.
